Veritas Medieval Faire is a program of Kron, a 501c3 non-profit which specializes in interactive educational demonstrations of medieval arms, armour, combat, knighthood and chivalry. They give the facts about the middle ages, based on solid data and archeological evidence- rather than continuing the myths and misconceptions many of us have grown up with from movies, games, books and even entertainment venues like renaissance faires. Traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest with their faithful replicas of arms and armour, they also bring the only traveling medieval artifact museum exhibit in the area to their presentations- which includes genuine armour from the Middle Ages!

Veritas Medieval Faire is hosted this year by Dusty’s Nursery and Company in Ellensburg, WA. Admission prices are intentionally kept low to increase accessibility to the local community but that doesn’t mean they’ve spared any expense when it comes to quality programming. While you can expect to see entertainers like bards, fairies and elves, as a professional educational organization, the Veritas Faire has committed themselves to ensuring that any person or entertainer who claims to be representing something historical must be able to document what they present to the public.

Butted jewelry rings? No! At Vertias Medieval Faire in 2014 you got to see faithful replica armour made in one of the ways they REALLY did it during the middle ages- with riveted rings!

So, for example, in 2014 when they brought out a living historian who intended to make medieval armour at the event they held in Quincy, WA they ensured that he would be making it with the historical method (riveted or welded rings)- not the butted jewelry rings you see in costume pieces.

It’s been my personal privilege to volunteer with this organization for several years, and I am proud to support them in any way I can. For more information about their programs, please visit their website.

For Veritas Medieval Faire, I am bringing back a line of jewelry (The Hisorical Coin Collection) which celebrates their endeavor to make history real, tangible and relatable to the public.

Veritas Medeival Faire is a returning program to Butterfly Sundries’ Featured Charity Spotlight, having been sponsored in 2015 as well.
