Spring Cleaning!

Butterfly Sundries is getting ready to wrap up a Spring Cleaning extravaganza. For my loyal Facebook fans, many of the designs I intend to discontinue this year became available at exclusive discount prices (quite a treat for them, as I rarely offer sales, discounts, etc.) to help me clear out space for new 2014 inventory and designs.

It was quite an experience going through my inventory and listings while preparing for the sale. Reviewing my old(er) listings gave me a chance to appreciate how my vision, skills and interests have evolved over the years.

When I first started making jewelry, my focus was on beadwork. While I was never ambitious enough to bead on a loom (though I have such admiration for artists who do, just the thought of doing so makes me feel like my brain is in knots), I enjoyed creating layered necklaces with interesting focal points.

I love shells- and these, in particular, always inspire me and capture my imagination. I particularly enjoy the gold highlights and I wanted to enhance them in a design. Complementary beads which emphasized the highlights in long flowing strands remind me of sun-kissed ocean waves... I imagine these shells to be among the treasures of mermaids and Poseidon.

Then I played with the idea of designs which appeared to have multiple strands but involved less weight around the neck.

Did you know that red roses are supposed to be symbolic of sacrifice, immortal love, health, memorial and passion?

Eventually, I became bored with string and decided to start incorporating wire work into my beaded designs.

I found this lucky fish pendant several years ago, along with a twin. I fell in love with them both and I created two designs, one for each. This is the first design- and I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved making it.

I came to feel constricted by the prefabricated beads, pendants and materials that anyone could potentially purchase and use to replicate my designs, so I decided to begin to make my own pendants which would fit my expanding vision; I found a great medium through acid-etching metal sheet with my own original designs.

This beautiful pendant was inspired by those women who have the courage to, despite difficult circumstance, look within themselves to find their own strength and beauty... who discover their ability to embrace their power to stand up for their hopes, even in the ugliest of situations.

In what new direction will my designs expand next? I’m debating between soldering and casting…. If the sale goes really well, maybe both!

Most of the designs above (with the exception of the Standing Lotus Pendant from the Lotus Collection) are all reproductions of older designs (I do, periodically, feel nostalgic for the mediums I’ve largely retired from my repertoire). All of them and many more are currently available for purchase at huge discounts through my Spring Cleaning Exclusive Facebook Fan Deals!

My loyal blog readers also have a chance to take advantage of the deals! Go to Facebook now to check out the discounts before they’re gone forever; all special offers end officially at 11:59pm PST on March 23, 2014 (But, if you send me a message and tell me you’re a blog reader, the offers will be honored through Wednesday, March 26, 2014)!

Also, because I’m phasing out all of the designs which I’ve made with prefabricated clasps, pendants, etc. I’ve found myself with a huge surplus of beading supplies I simply can no longer use! If you’re interested in potentially purchasing jewelry supplies in bulk at huge discounts, send me a message and tell me for what you’re looking!
